Dean Allen Luckinbill

Dean Allen Luckinbill returned home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 25, 2022. He was 81 years old and died of natural causes.

Dean was born June 2, 1940 in Denver, CO. He attended Englewood High School, where he graduated in 1958.

Following graduation, Dean joined the marine corps, where he was assigned to Marine Air Control Squadron 8 (“MACS-8”). In 1960, Dean’s squadron departed Parris Island, SC, and spent the next 1.5 years serving in the Philippines and Japan before returning home. Later, Dean enjoyed a second tour of duty in Japan with his marine comrades.

Following his career in the military, Dean worked in sales, construction and hauling of heavy equipment.

Dean enjoyed crossword puzzles, animals (especially dogs and cats), perusing the aisles of Lowe’s and Home Depot, talking politics and sports and watching true-crime shows. He was most comfortable in his flannel shirts, jeans and steel-toed boots.

Dean’s legacy includes his quiet and often unheralded service. He avoided the limelight, but his impact was felt and his example will be remembered. We will recall Dean saving the lives of abandoned felines, making life more comfortable for others, fixing broken things, brightening our day with lunch or frozen custard and keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Logan Ray Luckinbill and Mattie Lucille Delay Lust; his brother, Johnny; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Cheryl; and his grandson, Brett Huston.

Dean’s brother, Willard Luckinbill, died just two days after Dean passed.

Dean is survived by the love of his life, best friend and eternal companion, Nancy; his brother, Richard Luckinbill (wife, Carol); his son, Dean Luckinbill, Jr. (wife, Leigh); his daughter, Jennifer Huston; his grandchildren, Kyle and Regan Luckinbill, Michelle Clinkenbeard and Laura Stone; his great-grandchildren, Claire and Curtis Clinkenbeard and Barrett and Ari Stone; Nancy’s children, Tony Jarrett (wife, Wendy) and their children, Ryan, Rachel, Cameron (wife, Maria), Kate (husband, Hunter) and Trevor; Jennifer Bozarth and her children, Lauren, Megan (husband, Chris) and Luke; Natalee Clark (husband, Brian) and their children, Tyler, Ashlee, Abby and Ava.

As a valiant service member, Dean will be interred at Ft. Logan cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
