Symons, Jean (nee Swanke)

It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Symons announces her passing on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the age of 74 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Sara (Shane) and Caleb. Jean will also be fondly remembered by her three grandchildren Caroline, Caleb(CJ) and Cate and by her sister Sylvia Swanke.  Jean was pre-deceased by her brothers Charles Swanke and John Swanke and her sisters Mary Bergner and Carroll Nickerson.

A native of Colorado, Jean attended Holy Family Catholic School. She went on to study at Metropolitan State College of Denver and Regis University receiving degrees in English and computer software engineering respectively.  She was proud of her work teaching GED prep classes, study skills and reading at Front Range Community College. Jean ended her career in the IT department at the Mental Health Center of Denver.

Jean’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She taught Caroline to sew, drove Caroline and CJ to sporting events and school activities and spent hours crafting with Cate.  

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 1:00PM on Sunday, December  18th at Caleb‘s house at 3034 S. Columbine St., Denver, CO 80210.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Jean can be made to the Denver Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
