Being raised on a farm and working as a truck driver, Butch was naturally a rough spirit. However, he raised a family in the difficult 70s and opened his home to a couple of people down on their luck.
He had the kind of intelligence you don't find in books. For instance, he once won a hand of poker with a pair of threes against a man who was bluffing with a pair of twos.
My dad always told us “you can do anything you put your mind to”. I suspect he developed this attitude by solving problems all his life. He used to take me to see the samurai movies of the 70s. And I imagine that's how he saw himself in the world. He loved his family dearly and was always ready to help those in need.
He will be truly missed.
