After a protracted battle with cancer, Karen Ann Faubel died on November 19, 2022, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado at the age of 68. She leaves behind her husband, Reid Taylor, her mother Virginia Faubel, her brother Warren Faubel (and his wife Priscilla), and her nephew Daniel Faubel (and his wife Joanna).
Karen was born on October 8, 1954, in Pender, Nebraska, to father Wesley Faubel, who predeceased her, and mother Virginia Faubel (nee Bressler). She grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado with brother Warren. Karen was on her high school gymnastics team where she suffered a shoulder injury, which ended her Olympic ambitions. She graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado with a B.S. degree in Education in 1976.
Karen worked most of her professional life in the Medical Device Manufacturing industry in Production Management, Inventory Planning, and Spare Parts and Logistics Analysis. Along with being an avid reader of mystery thrillers, Karen enjoyed pinball games, jigsaw puzzles, board games like Scrabble and Backgammon and many other card games which use strategy and logic. She was a certified diver and loved scuba diving, having had multiple adventures to exotic destinations. Her competitiveness served her well in all sports, games and life. When diagnosed with cancer in 2019, she remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.
