Stanley Andrew McMahan
Stanley Andrew McMahan passed away at the North Suburban Medical Center, Denver Colorado on November 26, 2022. He was born on January 27, 1946 to Lida and Andrew McMahan and spent all his school years in Denver public schools. Stan enlisted in the US Marine Corps on August 28, 1964. He served as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver in Vietnam receiving the National Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal, and The Good Conduct Award. He received his Honorable Discharge on August 25, 1967.
On January 25, 1969 Stan married the Love of his Life, Vicki Joan Gott and they were together for fifty-three years until his death. Vicki and Stan remained dedicated partners, lovers and friends for the entire time. There were two sons born to this marriage, Darren Richard McMahan of Denver, and Brian Keith McMahan of Boerne Texas. Both sons followed their father’s footsteps by serving in the Marine Corps.
Stan retired after many years as a ranger and park maintenance technician with Adams County, and the Hylands Ranch.
His great joys in life were fishing for trout in Colorado lakes, reading, and spending time with his friends and family. At other times in his life, he also enjoyed cycling, bowling, very detailed wood sculpting, and shooting a mean game of pool.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents Lida and Andrew, and Vicki’s sister Marcia.
He is survived by his wife Vicki, sons Darren and Brian and their families, and Vicki’s brother Steve Gott.
