Robert Jay “Bud” Abbott January 19, 1934 – January 1, 2020 Robert Jay “Bud” Abbott of Northglenn, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Denver Hospice in Denver, Colorado with family by his side.

Bud, son of Ernest and Maude Abbott, was born on January 19, 1934 in Salida, Colorado. After attending West High School, he joined the United States Navy in 1951 and proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Boxer.

Bud was united in marriage to Alice on July 1, 1955 in Denver, Colorado. They raised their family and shared nearly 65 years together in marriage. After marriage, they made their home in Northglenn, Colorado. Bud worked at the Conoco Oil Refinery for 33 years. He also served on the Northglenn Volunteer Fire Department in the beginning years. And last, but not least, he was proud to have marched in the Shriner Drum and Bugle Corp.

Bud enjoyed fishing and camping. One of his happiest moments was catching a 36” Mackinaw trout with his son out of Twin Lakes in Leadville, Colorado. His 36” Mac is still proudly displayed in his home.

After his retirement, Bud was actively involved with his grandchildren. Whether it was driving them back and forth to school or taking them fishing in Grand Lake, Colorado.

Loving family includes his wife, son and daughter, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and his sister-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will follow.
