Marshall Ray Pruett

Marshall Ray Pruett of Denver, Colorado, most recently, and formerly Allen, Texas, lost his short battle with lung cancer on February 14, 2023 and is now at peace and home with his Lord.  After breaking his femur, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer on January 12, 2023 which had already metastasized to his bones, kidneys & adrenals. Following the diagnosis, he was surrounded by lots of love, family, good memories, and, of course, laughter.

Marshall was born in Fort Worth, Texas on August 2, 1958 to Wilford R. Pruett and Billye Jean Marshall Pruett.  He was raised in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.  He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University, where he met his wife Lita Johnson. They married on May 22, 1981.

Marshall is remembered for his big laugh, outgoing nature, and fun, easy-going spirit.  He proved that you can “grow older but not up,” just like one of his favorites, Jimmy Buffett, said.  Marshall was a big kid at heart, never too serious, and usually strolled along as if he were on island time. Family was most important to him, and he treasured all the time and memories made with his loved ones. He often talked about his travels, and future travels to come. From various family trips as a kid, trips with Lita to visit the kids in Australia, California, Colorado & Alaska; to Greece with the kids, and even visiting many loved ones’ gravesites anytime he was in the area. One of Marshall’s jobs took him across the country delivering vehicles, and he crossed off all of the states except Vermont and Maine!

We'll be sure to remember you when enjoying cartoons, sunsets and campfires.

Marshall is greeted in heaven by his wife of 34 years, Lalita Rose Pruett, his parents Wilford and BJ Pruett, many other loved ones who he’s recently spoken of and remembered throughout his battle with cancer, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Marshall often said that his children are his greatest accomplishments.  Surviving family include his twin daughters Kate Pruett Straubinger (Nate Straubinger) and Tina Pruett Buschur (Greg Buschur); son Ryan Pruett (Lauren Pruett);  granddaughters Halyn Nicole Pruett and Madeline Rose Buschur; sister, Susan Pruett Stamilio, and brother-in-law, Anthony Stamilio; his brother David Pruett, and sister-in-law, Phyllis Pruett, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A private celebration will be held in Fayetteville, Arkansas where family and friends will celebrate in a double memorial with his mom.

A memorial headstone for the cremated remains of Marshall and Lita will be purchased to serve as their final resting place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Oologah, OK. Memorial donations in memory of Marshall may be sent by Venmo to Tina Bushur at @Tina-Pruett or through the paypal fundraising link here: https://www.paypal.com/pools/c/8RDzJzTCHv

The last prayer we read with him seems fitting:

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." - John 14:27
