Verna Louise Thome

The family of Verna Thome announce that her earthy journey of 93 years is complete. We rejoice and celebrate her heavenly homecoming on July 2, 2022.

Verna was born in Milwaukee, WI, on April 11, 1929, to John and Emma Dolder. She was the second of four girls. Her family moved to Chicago when she was young, where she grew up. After high school, she attended nursing school and became an RN. In Chicago, she met her husband Ronald Thome and they married on September 8, 1951. Together they moved to Southern California in 1956 and where they raised three children, David, Deborah, and Daniel. While her youngest was in junior high school, Verna went back to nursing as a school nurse for 17 years at Lutheran High School of Orange County, CA.

Verna enjoyed nursing, volunteering at thrift stores, playing bridge, participating in bowling leagues, needlework, cooking, fishing, attending her children’s activities, and never missed watching her favorite baseball team, the Anaheim Angels – Go Halos!

Upon her death, she was reunited with her husband of 49 years, Ron, along with her three sisters – Joan, Beatrice, and Marion. She is survived by her three children: son David (Marilyn) of Hastings, NE; daughter Deborah (John) of Highlands Ranch, CO; and son Daniel (Su) of Anaheim Hills, CA; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She will be interned in Anaheim, CA, at a later date.

Her celebration of life will be held at St. John’s Church on Saturday, July 9th, at 2 pm. 700 S. Franklin St., Denver, CO 80209. Memorial donations in memory of Verna can be made to Wind Crest; Student Scholarship Fund, 3235 Mill Vista Rd., Highland Ranch, CO 80129.

All her family and friends will truly miss her beautiful smile.
