Sonja Mae Bowles (Miner)
Sonja Mae Bowles (Miner)
It is with great sadness that the family of Sonja Bowles announces her peaceful passing after a strong battle against LMS (Leiomyosarcoma), on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022, at the age of 62. Sonja will be lovingly remembered by her husband and best friend of 37 years, Scott, and their children, Jessica (Matt) Schwabe, Steven (Lynsey) Bowles, Samuel Bowles, Sarah (Mason) Moore, and Seth Bowles. Sonja will also be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Ilyas Schwabe, Addyson Schwabe, Noah Bowles, Liam Bowles, Ezra Bowles, Otto Bowles and Navy Mae Bowles, by her mother Shirley Miner, her mother-in-law Jean Bowles, by her siblings Sherry (Gordon) Garling, Greg Miner, and Shelly (Tom) Sanford, and by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Sonja was preceded in death by her father George Miner and father-in-law Jack Bowles.
Sonja was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend, with one of the kindest and most loving hearts, who also had a STRONG faith in God and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was the epitome of a wonderful homemaker, where many found welcome and comfort. Sonja loved riding Harleys, loved baking/sharing/eating sweets, loved flowers, LOVED spending time with her family and friends, and was a 2x WORLD CHAMPION POWERLIFTER. She is now with her Lord and Savior. Mama B, the angel.

Sonja chose to be cremated and wants her ashes spread on her final motorcycle ride in the mountains of Colorado and amongst rose bushes. Family members will keep some of her ashes and some will be spread amongst a rose bush at her sister Sherry’s house that was gifted to Sherry for Mother’s Day from Sonja and the family many years ago.
Sonja did not wish for a funeral service or a viewing and said that she would be okay with a celebration of life (party) if her family desired. There are ongoing discussions of celebrations of life, potentially in CO and/or OH, of which details will be shared later, if applicable. The children and extended family want to mention a special thanks to Scott for being such a devoted and loving husband and a wonderful caretaker throughout her battle with cancer. The family wanted to send a special thanks to the UCHealth Hospital Cancer Care Center, especially the Highlands Ranch infusion staff, Project Angel Heart of Denver, Namaste Hospice of Denver, and all those who love her and reached out. Those who so desire may make donations in memory of Sonja to Project Angel Heart at 4950 Washington St, Denver, CO 80216 (also online option at www.projectangelheart.org). God bless.
