Ray, Samuel Jefferson "Jeff"
Ray, Samuel Jefferson "Jeff"
It is with great sadness that the family of Jeff Ray announces that he passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the age of 52 years.
Jeff was many things to many people - a devoted son, a great brother and cousin, a loyal friend and an amazing uncle to his nephews. Jeff was born in Dallas, Texas on September 26, 1968 and grew up in Plano, Texas before attending Texas Tech University in Lubbock where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. After college, Jeff moved to New Jersey to begin his career before moving to Commerce City, Colorado in 2008. Jeff was his happiest traveling and out on the road - going to baseball games in different cities, exploring our beautiful national parks, enjoying the sun in Hawaii, cheering his beloved Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Texas Tech Red Raiders - and catching up with family, old friends and making new ones along the way. He was just at home at an airport lounge in Rapid City, SD securing an upgrade for his flight back to Denver as he was at his house watching the Rangers on TV hit a walk-off homer to beat the Yankees.
Jeff will be lovingly remembered by his father and step-mother Sam and Sandy Ray, his brother and sister-in-law David and Quinn Ray, his nephews Rylan (12) and Jacob (8), and many cousins and friends. Jeff was predeceased by his mother Genelyn Ray.
A Celebration of Jeff's life will begin at 11 am, on Sunday, May 2, at the Prestonwood-Creek Country Club, 15909 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas, with his cousin Reverend Tracie Jernigan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Jeff can be made to the National Parks Conservation Association (https://www.npca.org/give/memorial-tribute-giving).
