Ruth Lee Nance
Ruth Lee Nance was born January 9, 1921, to Nels and Laura Wetterhus on their
homestead near Roy, New Mexico. She is survived by three sons, William Lorin
Phillips of Northglenn, Colorado and Mark Lewis Dally and wife Kathleen of Trabuco
Canyon, California, Terry Lee Dally (deceased) and his wife Virginia of Westminster,
Colorado, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nels and Laura
Wetterhus, a brother, Jack Wetterhus, a brother, Tom Wetterhus, a sister, Marie
Carruth, a son, Terry Dally and three husbands; Lorin L. Phillips, I.E. (Kel) Dally
and John E. Nance. She started to school in a one room school house near their
ranch (El Gato) in San Miguel County, New Mexico. Moved back to Roy and
graduated from eight grade, moved to Santa Fe and attended Jr. High then to
Albuquerque where she graduated from Old Albuquerque High School and from
Albuquerque Business College. She worked for many years as an accountant,
bookkeeper, business Manager and Notary Public. She also worked for the Labor
Commission for three years. She was active in many organizations: Tau Phi
Lambda Sorority, Woodmen Circle, Women of the Moose and Elks, Eastern Star.
She has belonged to the Sew-So Club for over 50 years, is a member of NARFE
and a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico and
a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada, Colorado. She has lived in both
Southern and Northern California, Oklahoma, Colorado and Washington D.C. area
before returning to Albuquerque in 1981. She moved to Colorado, in 2002 after the
death of her husband, John Nance in 2000. She has traveled most of the United
States plus Alaska and Hawaii. She enjoyed many hobbies; bowling (200 club) oil
painting, dancing, fishing, rock hunting, camping, sewing, decorating and gardening.
Ruth lived a full life and turned 100 years old before her passing on April 19, 2021.
She was and is loved by many.
