JAMES H. LANZ

May 4, 1931 – February 23, 2021

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of James (Jim) H. Lanz, 89 of  Lakewood, Colorado who passed away on February 23, 2021.

At the age of 19, Jim joined the Navy and spent 4 years proudly serving his country. In the years  to follow, on August 18, 1956, he married Anne, the love of his life who survives him. He is also  survived by his daughter Karen and spouse Jim McCready, his sons, James H. Lanz, II and  Timothy F. Lanz and spouse Ruby, his grandsons Jeremiah Grisham and spouse Cyrus and  Christopher Grisham. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Montrone. He is predeceased by  his parents, Margaret and Frederick Lanz, daughter Barbara Janes and grandson, James H. Lanz,  III.

Jim’s passion and the top priority in life was his family. Born and raised in New York, Jim and  Anne moved their family to Colorado in 1964. He loved Colorado and would always consider it  his home. He cherished camping trips with his family, teaching them to fish, taking them jeeping  and enjoying the beauty that surrounded them. He was meticulous in everything he did, he was a  woodworker who made many beautiful pieces of furniture still treasured and used by his family  today. In his leisure time, he enjoyed football (college and professional) and had great interest in  geography, watching documentaries on WWII and reading National Geographic.

There are no words to express the sadness of his passing, but his memory will always live on in  our hearts. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him and we are comforted knowing that  one day we will be together again to celebrate a lifetime overflowing with the love and happiness  that he so graciously offered.

If you wish to make a donation in his honor, please consider the EOD Warrior Foundation or St.  Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
