Sadiki Harun Harris
Sadiki Harun Harris died on February 13, 2021 after a short illness. He was 46. Sadiki spent his last days at The Denver Hospice where he received loving visits from his parents Martel and Jackie, his friends, and other loved ones.
Sadiki Harris was born in Denver, CO, a city that he loved and where he lived nearly all his life. He grew up in the Montclair neighborhood and was a 3rd generation graduate from Manual High School. Between Montclair and Manual, he made many lifelong friends. Sadiki was an artist using both pencil and oil in his paintings. He loved industrial art and was particularly interested in the balance and symmetry of objects like gears, metal, and other three dimensional objects. Sadiki LOVED music. No matter where, he constantly haad music on. He was also a movie fan. Sadiki was also an artist in the kitchen and worked most of his life in restaurants. He loved to cook and prepare meals for anyone and everyone. One of his favorite sayings came from working "in the rear of the house" - "Put butter on it." He was recognized as a distinguished chef during his time at the much loved Denver restaurant The Samba Room. Sadiki loved to travel and he and his former spouse went on many vacations to tropical destinations. After his divorce Sadiki became his mother's caretaker, and he provided her with many years of loving and attentive care. The pandemic was very hard on Sadiki. Like so many in the restaurant industry he was out of work. He briefly worked at Mexico City where, as with so many people came into contact with him, he was truly loved. In the end, his long-standing health challenges became too much.
Sadiki is survived by his closest family. His father Martel Harris, his mother Jackie Westhoven, both of Denver, CO, and his older brother Ajayi Harris who lives with his wife and son in Worcester, MA. A memorial service will be held at a future time. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make donations to his GoFundMe page.
