Carol Jean Pesell, resident of Morrison, Colorado, was born May 26, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away December 11, 2020.  Carol was the daughter of Freida (nee Hellwig) and George Pesell and sister to Betty Pesell Raeuper.

Carol met the love of her life, Carol “Casey” Stengel in eighth grade.  Together they attended Lutheran High School in St. Louis and Concordia Lutheran University in Chicago, Illinois. Carol received a B.S. in Education and taught elementary children for many years in Colorado.  Carol and Casey were married in a civil ceremony in 2014.

Throughout her life, Carol maintained her spunky personality, love of nature and sense of adventure in her travels.  She and Casey traveled the world together, visiting almost every continent, with an intense passion for enjoying a country as a native. Accompanying them on many trips, was “Mamie”, their bright green Volkswagen camper van…last known location…The Netherlands.   Carol loved sharing the educational experiences of her travel with her grand nieces and nephews on holiday visits.

In 1970, Carol and Casey moved to Morrison, Colorado where they built their forever home by Red Rocks.  A feat unto itself as it was difficult at that time for a single woman to secure a loan to build, no obstacle for persistent Carol.  Together they shared the love of skiing, climbing 14ers, snow shoeing, gardening and caring for dogs and cats.  Padre Island was a special place for them to enjoy as they walked the beaches, sailed and flew colorful kites in the sea breeze.

Carol was followed in death, a mere five days, by her love in life, Carol “Casey”Stengel.  She is survived by special friends Todd Misk and John Reid of Denver, Colorado; three nieces, Debbie Dickenson, Jill Belt and Sheri Darden of Dallas, Texas and families; and very close circle of women friends.

Per request, there will be no service.  Donations in Carol’s name may be given to Doctors without Borders, Nature Conservancy, and Dumb Friends League Animal Shelter.
