GIBBS, Monte Banks

Monte B. Gibbs passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at the age of 89 years. 

A native of Miami, Florida he spent most of his life there except while serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and later relocating to be near family. 

He is survived by his children Colleen Lightfoot (Gary), Eric Gibbs, Katie Gibbs (Eric Krueger), and Tricia Gibbs; his brother John D. Gibbs (Kathy); seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

Monte was preceded in death by his brothers Donald Gibbs, Morris Gibbs, Joe Gibbs, and his son Jeffrey Dean Gibbs. 

Monte was a welder, carpenter and loved to work on boat and vehicle engines. He also enjoyed being outside especially while fishing or perfecting the landscaping in his yard. He will be remembered for his creativity, cleverness, positive outlook, and enduring sense of humor.

A memorial service for Monte is planned for February 2022. Memorial donations in memory of Monte can be made to a veteran organization of your choice. (The picture of Monte is at a car show this summer with a car similar to one he rebuilt and treasured as a young man.)
