Kathleen “Kathy” Ann (Bourke) Starr

Kathleen “Kathy” Ann (Bourke) Starr was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, volunteer, and friend. She passed away November 18, 2021, at the age of 76 after suffering a stroke. Proceeded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Lee Starr, daughters Jennifer, Starr, husband David Rowan, and grandchildren Claire, Brooke, and Seth Rowan; Michelle Starr, husband Christian Jungers, and grandchildren Madeline and James Jungers.

Born in Lincoln, Nebraska to Margaret and Michael Bourke on January 19, 1945, she graduated from Pius X High School, attended University of Nebraska, worked 11 years at Security Mutual Life Insurance before dedicating her time to raising her children. She also made time to volunteer at Lincoln General Hospital, worked as a paraprofessional in the Lincoln Public Schools and various volunteer efforts.  She later moved to Bryan-College Station, Texas with her husband where she volunteered at St. Joseph’s regional hospital at the reception desk, and later moved to Denver, Colorado to be closer to her grandchildren.

Kathy loved spending time with loved ones, telling stories about her family and Irish heritage, was a skilled knitter who often donated her time to teach young knitters. 

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in Lincoln, Ne. at a later date.
