Glen Russell Brittain
Glen Russell Brittain was born on March 14th, 1943 in La Junta, Co and passed away with family at bedside on October 16th, 2021 in Aurora, Co. He was born to Russell and Betty Lou Ringle Brittain; he was the first of ten children. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, his younger sister of 12 days, Bertha Frances Brittain, his first wife Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Arnold Brittain of 15 years and his second wife and life partner Pamela Jane Healing Brittain of 42 years. Glen was a loving father, mentor and guide and is survived by his five children Terry (Ray) Bland, Brian (Judy) Braswell, Kevin Braswell, Christina Mackey, and Jason (Tammie) Brittain. He had fourteen grandchildren: Zachary Bland & family, Destine Bland, Shannon Bland & family, Jennifer Pfluger & family, Stephan Braswell & family, Stormie Harris & family, Levi Braswell & family, Dakota Braswell, Brittney Mackey, Alyssa Mackey, David Mackey, Elizzabeth Mackey, Austin Brittain and Ashton Brittain. He also had seven great grandchildren. Surviving brothers and sisters: Sam (Jeanne), Carol (Mark) Peila, Ellen Duncan, Tim (Becky), Danny (Cheri), Jerry, and Kirk. He served in the US Navy for over four years. He was honorably discharged and received the following commendations: Armed Forces Expeditionary Metal (Viet-Nam), Viet-Nam Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal (First Award) 100CT65. He served as an electrician on the ship. At the end of his service, he was an E-5 and completed various trainings. Glen graduated from La Junta High School in 1961. He attended Sierra College and graduated with his AA in 1975. He also attended California State University and obtained his Bachelors in Agriculture in 1979. He worked for the Fort Lyon Canal Company for over 40 years. He also was employed with The La Junta Tribune Democrat for over 30 years. Glen was a determined, hard worker all his life working two or three jobs consistently. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, bowling, tinkering with anything mechanical, repairing autos, spending time with grandkids, watching NCIS, Charmed, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Monk, and House. He will be deeply and greatly missed by family and friends.
Memorial Services for Glen will be held at The First Presbyterian Church in La Junta, Colorado at 10 am on Saturday October 30th, 2021. It will be live streamed via the church website.
