Karen will be missed by her family. She passed May 9, 2020 at age 84.
Karen known to her family as Granny, is survived by son Michael daughters Monica and Melissa and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Karen was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Linch, daughter Marche and grandson Michael T.
Born Karen Allene Christopher in Columbus, Nebraska. She and her three sisters Helen, Gretchen and Bernice were raised by their aunt and grandparents in Schuyler, Nebraska. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, NB where she met her first husband Dudley McCubbin. After the birth of son Michael, she and Dudley were stationed in Munich Germany where daughters Monica and Marche were born. She and Dudley moved to Denver, CO where daughter Melissa was born. After divorcing Dudley, she moved to Littleton, CO. Karen earned a Bachelor of Science Education degree from the University of Colorado and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Northern Colorado. She taught elementary school in Englewood for 24 years. When she retired, she moved to a house she had built near Fairplay, CO. Karen was active in the community in Fairplay, substitute teaching, working to get the Fairplay Recreation Center built, volunteering with the Friends of the Library and working at the South Park City Museum. She met and Married Joseph Linch in Fairplay. She loved to travel, visiting family in Indiana, Oklahoma and Florida. She made a bicycling trip to China and rafted the Colorado river. After Joe died she continued living in her home with roommate George, a best friend of Joe's whose wife had died previously. She loved her mountain home, all of the trees and her neighbors. The last years of her life presented challenges with Alzheimer's disease, forcing her to leave her cherished home in Fairplay to stay in a care home in Littleton near son Mike.
The family will hold a private celebration of her life. Those that wish to do so may make a memorial donation to Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
