Evelyn “Joy” Langley (Wolff)

Evelyn “Joy” Langley (Wolff), 76 years of age, cherished wife, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and friend received eternal healing from cancer as she was welcomed to her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 11 at Avista Adventist Hospital in CO. 

Joy was born July 6, 1942 to Emil and Amelia Rehurek Obr on a farm near Tyndall, SD. She attended grade school at Nedved District #47 north of Tyndall and high school in Yankton, SD. Joy met and married the love of her life, Don Langley on February 4, 1959. Over the years while living in South Dakota and Yakima, WA, Joy had a variety of careers to include: clerk at Tyndall Bakery; home child care provider; nurse assistant; truck driver; Cancer Society volunteer and home health aide. Joy described the very best job she had was being a parent and grandparent. 

Joy treasured her Czech (Bohemian) heritage and valued sharing memories and photos of her family’s lineage. She was passionate about many interests over the years to include: playing pinochle with friends and family; bowling in tournaments; boating and fishing on Washington lakes; cooking delicious meals and baking treats such as kolaches; watching the Colorado Rockies; listening to country and gospel music; attending and enjoying in-person or online church services; and discussing politics and religion. 

Joy is survived by her sister, Marcella McFarland of Tyndall, SD; daughter Lynn Langley of Yakima, WA; son Lee (Terry) Langley of Lake Stevens, WA; daughter Julie (Ray) Flores of Wapato, WA; daughter Jill (Mike) Carcagno of Broomfield, CO;  nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and lifelong friend Karyn Konferst of Yankton, SD. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Langley, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Per Joy's request, no formal service will occur. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be designated to the Yakima Union Gospel Mission at https://www.yugm.org/ or the American Cancer Society.
