Marie was born November 19, 1951 in San Francisco, California as Maria Kathleen VanHecke to Dolores Hanson and Vernon VanHecke. She grew up in California and moved to Denver, Colorado in 1979. Marie established her career here in Denver as a healer using massage therapy and duo-magnetic touch. She had aspirations of telling her life story which was filled with an eclectic of life experiences and challenges. She was loved and admired by many of her friends and family. Those who knew Marie will say that she never judged, she was a life teacher who had gained vast wisdom through experience. They will say, she listened, she loved company and rarely turned down a visit. They will say “Marie lived!”
Marie is survived by her daughter and best friend, Elisha Marie Olivas; son-in-law, Corey Stewart; her partner, Edward Madrid; sister-n-law, Jeannette Prince; her grandchildren, Luis Demetri Olivas (Roybal), Raven Simone Mutomb-Stewart, Felice Selia Fresquez, Eliana Monet Olivas-Stewart, and Luciano Olivas- Stewart; lastly, her first great-grandson, Luis Noah Olivas-Romero.
