Brigid Judge Howes

Denver – Brigid Judge Howes, formerly of Silver Spring, MD, died February 5 with son Kevin and grandson Kevin II by her side after a short illness. As she was known to most, Bridie was born November 5, 1927, in Agloragh, Ballyhaunis, Ireland, to the late Catherine Flynn Judge and Patrick J. Judge. After completing school, she served as a nursing assistant in Nottingham, England, at the end of WWII. In December of 1948, she immigrated to the United States with her twin sister Mary, joining her extended family established in Washington, D.C.

Bridie met her late husband Roland "Buddy" Howes at the National Bank of Washington, where they worked together. They were married in June 1954.   Bridie and Buddy were residents of Silver Spring, MD where they raised their family and were members of the Saint Camillus Parish community for 25 years. Brigid provided daycare services from 1970-1991, supporting new working moms from the parish and school community. She was known as "Mom Moms" to many children during those years.

In her retirement years, she lived with her son and his family. She enthusiastically supported their work-life adventures, which saw her relocate to five states and Paris, France, over the final third of her life.

Bridie was preceded in death by her husband Roland “Buddy” and oldest son David Howes. She is survived by her younger son Kevin (Marcia); her daughter-in-law Martha; her grandchildren Zac (Natalie), Sadie (Lou DiAdriana), Kevin II (Katy), and Alexis Clark (Jeremy); her great granddaughters Reagan and Kennedy her great grandson Emmet Clark, and her sisters Mary King and Brenda Forkin.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rockville, MD, at 10:00 AM.   https://stmarysrockville.org/
