Donald Brownlow

Donald Brownlow, 98, passed away on Tuesday June, 28, 2022 after having staunchly battled a variety of maladies, the last of which included Covid-19. He passed away at the Life Care Center of Westminster under the care of Denver Hospice.

Don was born in San Antonio Texas on Christmas Day of 1923. He grew up in Omaha Nebraska. Don graduated from Omaha Tech High School in 1941, followed by 2 years of college. Don served his country during World War II in the United States Navy - where he was unfortunately subjected to extreme prejudiceness and cruel treatment.

Don was a survivor and presevered and after his military discharge he worked a variety of professions before meeting the love of his life, Charlene. Don and Charlene were united in marriage in February 1958 in Omaha NE. They moved to Denver Colorado shortly after their wedding and have resided in Colorado until present. They were happily married for 64 years and raised three wonderful children.

Don was a self-taught and very talented carpenter. He owned a successful cabinet making and woodworking business for over 45 years in Colorado. Don reluctantly retired from his carpentry business after partially severing 4 fingers off his right hand while working. However this unfortunate accident to not deter Don from seeking out other career opportunities including, owning/managing several rental properties, sales, and becoming one of the best Presidents to run Seniors, Inc.

Don loved working on computers and was always learning new programs and applications. He also enjoyed listening to the classic jazz greats on his always evolving high-fidelity audio systems for which he made many of his own custom cabinets and enclosures for. His other hobbies included reading mystery novels and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Don was known for his honesty, kindness and his optimistic and sunny personality that he carried with him to the last days of his life. In addition to his indefatigable positive presence his family will miss his homemade waffles recipe and preparation which has no equal the world over. Don’s joyful and warm-hearted laughter will also be missed.

Don is survived by his wife, Charlene; his children, Don (Debbie - daughter in-law), Phil (Kerrie - daughter in-law), and Michelle (James - son in-law); and his two grandchildren, Matthew and Heather.
