Edgardo Erasmo Picchietti was born on October 26, 1947, in Province of Rovigo, Italy to Stefano and Belania Picchietti. When he was 7 years old, he and his family moved to Lake Forest, Illinois where he spent most of his childhood. Edgardo joined the Army and served during the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he and his friends attended Huron college on a football scholarship. He later owned and operated the Chef Cafe for approximately 11 years. After selling the business he worked for a farmer and moved to the Broadland area where he engaged in farming part time while working at Dakota Pork in the stockyards. He eventually gained the position as a hog buyer right before Dakota Pork shutdown. He took a lateral position with John Morell in 1997 and moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He remained in that position until he retired and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends. In October 2020, he moved to live with his son at United States Air Force Academy, Colorado. On June 30, 2022, he lost his battle with cancer at Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center. He is survived by his children Carina, Anthony, Stephano, Matthew, and Zackery.
