Joseph Malcolm Johnston
It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Malcolm Johnston announces his passing on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Longmont United Hospice at the age of 76 years after a long battle with COPD.
Malcolm was born in Liverpool, England on February 16, 1946. His parents were Isabelle and Joseph Johnston. Malcolm met the love of his life, Marion in 1968 and they were married on March 15, 1969. They lived in England for the first few years of their marriage and then immigrated to the U.S. in 1972. Initially living in upstate New York, they moved to LaPorte, Texas in 1978 and resided there until 1986. They moved to Colorado the summer of 1986 and spent the remainder of their 36 years together in Colorado.
Malcolm will be lovingly remembered and survived by his wife of 53 years, Marion and their children: Paul (Tonia), Joanne (Dana) and Rob. Malcolm will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren: Peyton, Sam, Aidan, Emilia and Reed. Malcolm was also very close to his family in England: Marlene & Bob Evans, Robbie and Janine Evans and their children, Heidi and Leon. He is survived by his brother, Bruce (Chris) and sister, Tanya. Malcolm was predeceased by his sister: Sandra. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Ann (Ben) and his sister-in-law Heather (Derrick).
Malcolm was the patriarch of our family. He loved Jesus with all his heart and he encouraged us to do the same. He was a substantial influence in the lives of his grandchildren. He guided them with his wisdom and taught them the importance of honesty and accountability.
Deuteronomy 6:5-9 says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
Malcolm left us all with a legacy of “agape” love for one another and for our Lord. His commitment to Jesus will stay with us always and we will teach our children and our children’s children to love the Lord with all our heart and strength and soul. May you rest in eternal peace and forever be in His Almighty presence. We miss you dreadfully but will love you forever.
