Obituary
Brian D. Reynolds
June 20, 1983 – November 8, 2022
Brian Duane Reynolds was born in Southfield, Michigan on June 20, 1983, and passed away in Denver, Colorado, on November 8, 2022. Brian was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wayne and Doris Reynolds, and is survived by his parents, Duane and Janice, sisters, Amy Coughenour (Craig) and Rebecca Ballinger (Rob), his maternal grandparents, Harold and Lois Heinig, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and his co-workers at Yawp Cyclery in Denver.
Brian graduated with honors from Southfield Christian School in June, 2001 and from Michigan State University with honors in May, 2004, with a bachelor’s degree in English, after just 3 years.
As a child it quickly became apparent that Brian had a tender spirit; a stern look was usually all that was needed for correction. He was always very curious, with a desire to learn all there was to know about whatever subject interested him at the time. While a teen-ager Brian was introduced to mountain biking which quickly became his life-long passion. As soon as he was old enough, he got a job at a local bike shop, building and working on bikes. Weekends and off-time was spent riding a variety of trails near his home in Southeast, lower Michigan. Brian would ultimately work at bike shops in Michigan, Denver, Rhode Island, California, and then back to Denver.
Brian first moved to Colorado in 2007 to pursue his passion, spending his off hours honing his skills and technique while riding the mountains, trails, and roads on bikes modified by him to his exacting specifications. He didn’t own a car and went everywhere by bike, no matter the weather.
Brian was a self-taught bike mechanic, mastering the intricate systems and components of high-end road and mountain bikes to meet the rigorous demands of Colorado’s roads and mountain trails. Brian gladly shared his knowledge with others, some of whom went on to open their own bike shops.
Brian had a quiet, gentle, spirit; he was an avid reader with a keen intellect; he was considerate, compassionate and generous; a quick learner and a hard worker; he had a dry wit and a smile that could brighten up any room. Brian was liked by all who met him and loved by those who got to know him. Brian will be greatly missed!
Brian’s life will be celebrated at a service to take place at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, located at 9455 Hilton Road, Brighton, Michigan 48114, on Friday, December 30, 2022.
