Wendell Wall

It is with broken hearts that our family announces the passing of Wendell Wall. Aged 83 years, 9 months and 7 days, Wendell died at 6:40 on Wednesday morning, December 23rd, 2021 in his home in Westminster, Colorado.

Wendell loved knowledge and chose to impart it to others as a professor of biology in Alabama and California. He was equally impressed by the great giant sequoias of central California and the tiniest of insects that crawled the earth. He was amazed by all forms of life and nature. Clouds were fantastic. Flowers were breathtaking. Mountains were awe-inspiring. Birds were marvelous. Forests were incredible.

More than nature, though, Wendell loved his family. His dedication to selflessly caring for Judy through her 20+ years of living with Alzheimer’s is the truest definition of love and devotion. He was a wise and compassionate parent (who sometimes forgot to turn lecture mode off). He always supported his children with concern, humor and advice.

Friendship was also very important to Wendell. He worked to maintain relationships with new and long-time friends from nearby and across the country. He will be missed greatly by everyone who had the privilege to know him.

He is survived by his daughters Julie Wall (Steven Abner) and Shannon Wall (Mark Mullane), granddaughter Janie Mullane (Krisytn Grell), grandson Jacob Mullane, step-granddaughters Jessica Abner (Mike Young) and Kharis Ducote-Abner, great-granddaughter Hannah, and sister Linda Frink (Ronnie). Wendell was preceded in death by his son Jason Wendell Wall in November of 2014, his wife, Judith Yates Wall in April of 2021 and his siblings Ola Mae, Warren, Jack and Wayne.

A memorial service will be held at the Boulder Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Monday, January 3rd, 2021. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association
