Lois E. Goad

Lois E. Goad passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Golden, Colo. on Jan. 10, 2022 at age 95. Born on Dec. 9, 1926 in Pierce, Neb., she graduated from high school in Sioux City, Iowa, and then moved to Denver to attend nursing school at Denver General Hospital. There she met Dr. Lloyd Goad who she was married to for 54 years until his death in 2002.

Together they raised four children in Golden. Lois was always active in Golden organizations, including longtime memberships in Fortnightly Book Club, Investment Club, P.E.O. and First Presbyterian Church of Golden where she previously served an as an elder. She was also a 65-year-long member of Rolling Hills Golf and Country Club. Lois enjoyed spending time with family, playing golf and was a skilled bridge player. Her background also includes a bachelor’s degree from Colorado Women’s College.

Lois and Lloyd loved to travel. This included a trip to Japan and the Philippines to visit former prisoner camps where Lloyd had been held as a POW during World War II.

Survivors are sons Rick (Wendy) of Arvada; Jim of Golden; Jerry (Deb) of Denver and daughter Julie Howe (Rob) of Sandy, Utah. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be held Saturday, January 29 at 1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Golden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Golden, Golden Civic Foundation or Lutheran Medical Center Foundation.
