David Eugene Butcher
David Eugene Butcher passed away on July 24, 2021.
On October 16, 1971 David was born to Dennis and Anna (Houck) Butcher and was welcomed home by sister, Susannah. The family spent David’s early years in Bartlesville before moving to Eugene, Oregon briefly, then settling in Norman, OK where David spent most of his teenage and adult years.
Growing up, David played baseball and wrestled. He achieved the title Master Mechanic, which is how he made his living. He enjoyed working on cars and helping out family and friends when he could. He later found a hobby in storm chasing and loved chasing tornadoes across Oklahoma and Kansas—and worked with some friends to build a storm chasing vehicle. It was in this hobby where he found many friends who had his same interest. He also enjoyed cooking and giving his opinion on politics and current events.
He was especially proud of his nieces and nephews, and of course, his grandbabies.
David married the love of his life, Jamie Wyrick, on July 3, 2004 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Jamie had three children—Rachel (Brooks), Dominee (Calderon), and James (Wyrick). Their family made their home in Norman and central Oklahoma. David and Jamie made the most of their time together and enjoyed sitting out on their porch, spending time with their grandbabies, and playing with their dogs. Jamie left this earth in 2018 and she was so missed by many—especially David. His family is thankful they can now be together again.
David was also preceded in death by his mother, Anna Houck Butcher.
He is remembered by his father and step-mother, Dennis and Brenda Butcher; Sisters, Susannah Bishop, DaRenda Hanson, Ashley Matthews, and Sarah Holden; Brothers, Jason Holden and Devin Smoot; his friend, Hope Parnell; biological mother, Angela Holden; Step-father, Virgil Holden; son-in-law, Brandon Brooks, step-children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
A come-and-go celebration of life will be held for David at the Norman Senior Citizens Center on August 29, 2021 from 1-3pm. Address: 329 S Peters, Norman, OK 73069.
