Vali Lowrie-Reed
Vali Lowrie-Reed left us on March 4th after a long and valiant battle with brain cancer. Along with her fierce dedication to family, she will always be remembered for her strength, beauty, grace and talent.
Vali was born to Harold and Luella Lowrie in 1962 in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in the city of Arvada and graduated from Arvada high school in 1980 where she first fell in love with the bright lights of the stage. She went on to study theater at the University of California San Diego and throughout her lifetime, was an accomplished dancer, singer, actress and entertainer.
A member of the famous “Groundlings” comedy school in Los Angeles and the Screen Actors Guild, Vali parleyed her training into an acting and producing career that spanned 10 years in the industry.
After marrying John Reed in 1998, Vali and John lived in the Pacific Palisades Highlands of Los Angeles for several years before they became parents of twins in 2001. Fiercely dedicated to their family, The Reeds moved north to Santa Rosa, California in 2003 to raise their children. Vali continued to sing professionally and built an amazing network of friends and colleagues in Northern California. A third child came along in 2006 and Vali continued to focus on the education and upbringing of her children as the her number one priority.
Meanwhile, as a dedicated and dynamic participant in her children’s educations, Vali continued to sing professionally, both as a seasonal Christmas Caroler and in her own jazz band. The family enjoyed a storybook life together in the California wine country until 2017 when Vali was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma. Only 4 months later, Vali’s house burned to the ground along with many others in the Santa Rosa Tubb’s fire.
Vali was an inspiration to many people as she fought through the pain of losing her home as well as the challenges of her diminishing health. Through it all, her children remained her strength and number one focus. Vali’s dedication to her family will continue to be an inspiration to everyone she met.
Vali is survived by her mother Luella Lowrie, her brother Troy Lowrie, her husband John, son Zack and daughters Kira and Capri Reed. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a contribution to the American Cancer Society.
