Vahling, Randolph “Randy” Joseph

Randy Vahling passed away on October 30th, 2020, at the age of 73 years.

A native of Colorado, Randy attended Arvada West High School, and then started college at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Soon after, he enlisted in the Navy.  As he often told the story, his intention was to be safe on a boat, but ended up testing into the Marine Corpsman program, which took him to the front lines of the Vietnam War.  During his service, he obtained many awards and distinguishments, including two Bronze Stars, and the Purple Heart.  He was injured while attending to a fallen Marine during a fire fight, and was permanently partially blinded.

Upon his return from the war, he rekindled his relationship with, and then married his first wife Judith Romano (George).  The couple had 2 children, Marcus Vahling (Rebecca) of Thornton Colorado and Nathan Vahling (Jessica) of Buffalo, NY.  Randy spent the remainder of his life in his home state of Colorado.

Randy enjoyed tinkering in his garage with his tools and particle board, creating many “projects” which was sometimes an amazing feat, considering his blindness and MS.  His love and knowledge of movies was extensive, and he could spend hours reminiscing about any old movie; especially if it included good slap-stick comedy.

Randy spent the later portion if his life with his last wife Judy Vahling (Kercher) traveling many parts of the world.  A few of his favorite places to visit were Mexico, the Caribbean, England, and Gatlinburg, TN.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Barbara.  He is survived by his 2 sons Marcus and Nathan, 7 grandchildren, sister Paulette and brother Donald.

Funeral Services will be held for immediate family only.
